AI Sprite Cutter

Turn a character sheet or game asset into clean, editable sprites in a few steps.

Open tool

AI Sprite Cutter detects visible subjects in your artwork, removes unwanted background pixels, and turns each result into an editable slice. The workflow stays in your browser, so you can iterate without uploading source files.

1. Prepare your artwork

Use a PNG, WebP, or JPEG image. A clear, high-contrast background gives the detector more room to separate characters, props, and UI elements.

2. Run smart detection

Upload the image and select Smart detect. The tool creates slice boxes around visible subjects. Drag a box to reposition it, resize its edges, or remove a result that is not needed.

3. Clean up the background

In the cutout panel, adjust tolerance and feathering. Use the color picker to sample the background, then use punch-out mode for enclosed areas such as holes between a character’s arms or legs.

4. Check and refine slices

Select a slice to inspect its transparent edges. Use trim selected or trim all to remove excess padding. Delete accidental boxes and draw a new box by dragging across an empty canvas area.

5. Export your game assets

Download one PNG for a quick check, or choose Download slices ZIP to export every selected slice together. When the assets are ready for atlas layout, send them directly to Sprite Sheet Packer.

Troubleshooting

If detection misses a subject, use a larger source image or a cleaner background. If edges look rough, lower tolerance and increase feathering slightly. For a subject with internal background, apply punch-out after the main cutout.
